Electronics has been given a one-year exemption from U.S. restrictions on exports of chip equipment to China. The move suggests the Biden administration is giving relief to American allies from the new rules which are roiling the industry.

(ticker: 005930. Korea) has authorization to receive equipment for its chip-making facilities in two Chinese cities, The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.
